LARRY'S CALL

SCENE 1 – INT. LARRY'S LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

Heavy rain pounds against the windows. The room is silent except for the ticking of an old clock. Larry paces nervously while Sharra sits on the couch holding a faded picture of her mother.

LARRY

No... nothing is alright.
I need your help right now.

MR. NEWBURGER (PHONE)

Tell me what happened.

LARRY

Sharra's mother has been arrested.
She didn't steal anything.
Someone framed her.
Please help us.

MR. NEWBURGER

Don't panic.
I'll contact the best criminal defense attorney I know.

SCENE 2 – INT. SHARRA'S LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS

Sharra slowly walks toward Larry. Tears fill her eyes as she waits for his answer.

SHARRA

Will he help my mother?

LARRY

Yes.
We're going to fight for her together.

SHARRA

She's innocent.
She worked every day just to take care of me.

SCENE 3 – INT. MR. NEWBURGER'S OFFICE – NIGHT

Stacks of legal files cover the desk. Mr. Newburger immediately calls Attorney Harris.

MR. NEWBURGER

A woman has been falsely arrested.
I need you at the county jail immediately.

ATTORNEY HARRIS

I'm leaving now.
I'll do everything I can.

SCENE 4 – INT. COUNTY JAIL – NIGHT

Cold lights shine across the empty hallway. Sharra's mother sits quietly inside a holding cell.

OFFICER

Someone has hired a lawyer for you.

SHARRA'S MOTHER

Larry... thank you.

SCENE 5 – INT. LARRY'S HOUSE – LATER

Larry's phone rings again.

MR. NEWBURGER

Something is wrong.
The arrest paperwork is incomplete.
Someone removed important evidence.

LARRY

So this was planned?

MR. NEWBURGER

Yes.
Someone wants this case buried forever.

SCENE 6 – INT. ATTORNEY HARRIS'S CAR – NIGHT

Attorney Harris drives toward the jail when an unknown caller interrupts him.

MYSTERIOUS VOICE

Turn around.
Forget the woman.
Some secrets cost lives.

ATTORNEY HARRIS

I'm not backing down.

SCENE 7 – INT. LARRY'S LIVING ROOM – SAME TIME

Larry receives a text message from an unknown number.

"STOP ASKING QUESTIONS... OR SHARRA'S MOTHER WILL NEVER COME HOME."

SHARRA

Who sent that?

LARRY

They're afraid we're getting closer to the truth.

Outside, a black SUV quietly parks across the street. Someone inside watches Larry's house through binoculars as thunder shakes the night sky.
