Larry's Living Room — Afternoon
The house is unusually quiet. Larry sits in his favorite chair, reading through a few papers with a serious expression. Isaiah walks into the room, looking calm but curious.
Larry slowly lowers the papers and gestures for Isaiah to sit.
LARRY: Isaiah, you're getting older now. It's time to stop wasting opportunities and start thinking about your future. I think joining the military would be the best decision for you. It would teach you discipline, responsibility, and give you a stable career.
ISAIAH: (uneasy) The military? I... I never really thought about that.
LARRY: You don't have to love the idea today. Sometimes the hardest path turns into the best one. Think about it seriously.
Isaiah forces a small nod, but his face shows uncertainty. He quietly stands and walks away.
Brooke's Bedroom — A Few Minutes Later
Brooke is organizing clothes in her closet when Isaiah knocks gently.
BROOKE: Come in.
Isaiah enters, looking troubled. Brooke immediately notices something is wrong.
BROOKE: What's going on? Why do you look so stressed?
ISAIAH: Larry just told me I should join the military. He said it's the best future for me. I didn't know what to say.
Brooke freezes. Her smile instantly disappears. Her eyes widen with disbelief.
BROOKE: He said WHAT?
Isaiah slowly nods.
ISAIAH: I didn't want to argue with him. I just came to tell you.
Brooke's breathing becomes heavier. She slams the closet door shut.
BROOKE: This is unbelievable. Why does he always try to control everyone's life?
Without another word, Brooke storms toward the bedroom door. Isaiah quickly follows behind her.
Hallway — Continuous
Brooke marches down the hallway with determination. Every step grows louder. Isaiah looks nervous.
ISAIAH: Brooke... please don't make this worse.
BROOKE: No. Someone has to tell him enough is enough.
She reaches the living room.
Living Room — Continuous
Larry looks up from his chair. He immediately notices Brooke's angry expression.
LARRY: What's wrong now?
Brooke stands directly in front of him. Her arms are crossed tightly.
BROOKE: I want to know something. What is your problem with me?
LARRY: What are you talking about?
BROOKE: Don't pretend you don't know. Why are you making decisions about Isaiah's life without even discussing it with anyone? Who gave you that right?
Larry calmly stands.
LARRY: I wasn't forcing him. I simply gave him advice. There's nothing wrong with encouraging someone to serve their country.
BROOKE: Advice? That's what you call it? Every single time, you try to control everything around you. Isaiah deserves to make his own choices.
Larry folds his arms.
LARRY: I'm trying to help him build a future. Someone has to think realistically.
BROOKE: And someone has to respect people's choices. Did you ever think about what Isaiah actually wants?
Silence fills the room. Isaiah remains near the doorway, watching nervously.
The Argument Escalates
The tension becomes unbearable. Larry sighs.
LARRY: You're making this much bigger than it is.
BROOKE: No. You're refusing to understand. This isn't just about Isaiah. It's about the way you keep interfering in everyone's lives.
Larry's expression hardens.
LARRY: I'm only trying to protect this family.
BROOKE: Protect us? Or control us?
The room becomes completely silent. Even Isaiah avoids eye contact.
The Ultimatum
Brooke takes one step closer. Her voice becomes firm.
BROOKE: Listen carefully. If you ever try something like this again... if you ever interfere in our lives without respecting us... I won't stay here anymore.
LARRY: What are you saying?
BROOKE: I'll move to Sharra's house. I'll pack my things and leave. I mean every word.
Isaiah looks shocked. Larry's confidence suddenly fades.
Larry's Doubt
Larry remains silent for several seconds. He never expected Brooke to threaten leaving.
LARRY: You'd really leave?
Brooke nods without hesitation.
BROOKE: Yes. Because peace matters more than living in a house where every decision is made for everyone else.
Larry slowly exhales. He realizes the argument has become far more serious than he imagined.
Isaiah Steps In
Isaiah carefully steps between them.
ISAIAH: Please... I never wanted this to become a family fight. I only told Brooke because I was confused. I didn't want everyone arguing because of me.
Brooke softens slightly. She looks at Isaiah.
BROOKE: This isn't your fault. You did the right thing by being honest.
Larry quietly listens.
Larry Reconsiders
Larry rubs his forehead. His voice becomes calmer.
LARRY: Maybe... maybe I pushed too hard. I only wanted Isaiah to have opportunities I never had.
Brooke's expression softens, but she remains serious.
BROOKE: Wanting the best for someone is a good thing. Making choices for them isn't.
Larry slowly nods. For the first time, he truly considers her words.
Front Porch — Sunset
Brooke steps outside to get some fresh air. The evening breeze gently moves through the trees. Isaiah joins her. They stand quietly for a moment.
ISAIAH: Thanks for standing up for me.
BROOKE: You'll always have the right to choose your own future. Never let anyone make that decision for you.
Isaiah smiles gratefully. Inside the house, Larry watches through the window. His face is thoughtful. He realizes respect is just as important as guidance.
The tension has settled — for now. But everyone knows the next decision Larry makes could either rebuild the family's trust... or break it forever.
