The morning begins peacefully inside Bethany's modern office. Sunlight shines through the large glass windows, filling every corner with warm light. Employees are busy answering phone calls, typing reports, attending meetings, and preparing for another productive workday.
Near the reception desk stands a young woman named Olivia, the company's newest employee. Since it is her very first day, everyone is introducing themselves and making her feel welcome.
Inside her private office, Bethany is reviewing financial reports and preparing for an important client meeting.
Everything seems completely normal.
Until the front doors slowly open.
Larry confidently walks into the office with a relaxed smile. Several employees greet him politely as he walks toward Bethany's office.
Suddenly, Larry notices Olivia standing near the reception desk.
He immediately changes direction and walks toward her.
LARRY
"Hello."
"I don't think we've met before."
"I'm Larry."
OLIVIA
"Hi."
"My name is Olivia."
"I just started working here today."
"It's nice to meet you."
Larry smiles warmly and shakes her hand. What begins as a simple introduction slowly turns into a longer conversation.
The nearby employees quietly continue working, but many of them begin paying attention to Larry's unusually friendly attitude.
LARRY
"So where are you from?"
OLIVIA
"I recently moved here from Atlanta."
LARRY
"Well..."
"I have to admit..."
"This office became much brighter the moment you walked in."
Olivia laughs nervously.
She isn't sure how to react.
Larry continues smiling and keeps the conversation going.
His compliments become more personal.
Several employees quietly look at one another.
One employee whispers,
"Isn't that Bethany's husband?"
Another employee slowly nods.
Everyone can sense that this conversation is becoming inappropriate.
LARRY
"If you ever need anything..."
"I'm always available."
At that exact moment...
The elevator doors open.
Bethany walks out carrying several important files.
She smiles while walking toward her office.
Then...
She hears laughter.
Curious, she looks toward the reception area.
Her smile instantly disappears.
She sees Larry standing close to Olivia.
She watches him laughing.
Complimenting her.
Flirting.
Bethany freezes.
Her grip tightens around the files in her hands.
The cheerful atmosphere instantly changes into complete silence.
BETHANY
"Larry."
Larry quickly turns around.
His confident smile disappears immediately.
LARRY
"Oh...
Bethany...
I was just talking."
BETHANY
"Talking?"
"Really?"
"That's what you call this?"
Olivia immediately realizes something is wrong.
She looks uncomfortable.
She takes a small step backward.
The employees stop working.
Everyone watches silently.
OLIVIA
"I'm sorry."
"I didn't mean to cause any problems."
BETHANY
"This isn't your fault."
Bethany slowly walks toward Larry.
Every step increases the tension inside the office.
Larry tries to remain calm.
LARRY
"You misunderstood everything."
"I was only welcoming her."
BETHANY
"I heard every single word."
"You called her beautiful."
"You told her the office became brighter."
"You offered to always be available."
"And you expect me to believe that was just being friendly?"
Larry cannot find the right words.
His silence only makes Bethany even angrier.
The office becomes completely quiet.
Nobody dares interrupt.
LARRY
"Please calm down."
Bethany's patience finally reaches its limit.
She steps directly in front of Larry.
Without saying another word...
SLAP!
Her hand strikes Larry across the face.
The loud sound echoes throughout the office.
Everyone gasps.
Larry slowly touches his cheek in complete shock.
Olivia covers her mouth.
Several employees stare in disbelief.
No one expected the confrontation to become so intense.
BETHANY
"You embarrassed me in front of my employees."
"You disrespected me inside my own office."
LARRY
"I'm sorry."
"I never meant to hurt you."
BETHANY
"Sorry isn't enough."
Get out.
"Leave my office."
"You are not welcome here anymore."
Larry looks around the office.
Every employee avoids eye contact.
The embarrassment is overwhelming.
Realizing there is nothing more he can say, Larry quietly lowers his head and slowly walks toward the exit.
The office remains silent until the front doors close behind him.
Bethany takes a deep breath and turns toward her employees.
Although she appears strong on the outside, the pain in her eyes reveals how deeply Larry's actions hurt her.
Olivia quietly returns to her desk, still shaken by everything she witnessed.
The employees slowly resume their work, but no one can stop thinking about what just happened.
The shocking confrontation becomes the biggest topic of conversation throughout the office.
Outside the building, Larry pauses for a moment before walking away, realizing that a few careless moments may have permanently damaged his relationship with Bethany.
