Anthony Confronts Amber Over the Missing Money
Cinematic Family Drama Screenplay
INT. LUXURY HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – EVENING
Rain taps against the giant glass windows. Anthony opens a designer duffel bag and begins counting stacks of cash. His expression suddenly changes as he realizes thirty thousand dollars is missing. He slams the money onto the table and angrily calls Amber downstairs.
ANTHONY
Amber! Get down here... NOW!
AMBER
What's wrong?
ANTHONY
Tell me why thirty thousand dollars is missing.
LONG... PAINFUL SILENCE
Amber freezes. She cannot answer. Anthony notices every second of her silence and begins pacing around the room. His breathing becomes heavier with every step.
ANTHONY
Don't repeat my question. Answer it.
Where is my money?
AMBER
I... I don't know.
ANTHONY
Nobody else entered this house.
Nobody else touched that bag.
Stop lying to me.
ANTHONY SLAMS HIS FIST ON THE TABLE
The loud bang echoes throughout the room. Amber jumps in fear while Anthony's frustration continues to grow.
ANTHONY
I've worked too hard for every dollar in that bag!
AMBER
Maybe... you counted it wrong.
ANTHONY
I NEVER count my money wrong!
THE SILENCE GETS EVEN HEAVIER
Anthony walks around the living room with rage burning in his eyes. Amber lowers her head and remains speechless.
ANTHONY
If you didn't take it...
Then tell me who did.
AMBER
Anthony...
I...
SHE CAN'T FINISH HER SENTENCE
Anthony's patience finally snaps. He kicks a chair across the room. It crashes into the wall.
ANTHONY
Your silence looks exactly like guilt!
FLASHBACK MONTAGE
Anthony gives Amber a spare house key. He tells her she is the only person he trusts. He hides the money bag while Amber watches quietly.
BACK TO PRESENT
Anthony grips the fireplace so tightly that his knuckles turn white. His disappointment is stronger than his anger.
ANTHONY
I trusted you more than anyone.
Now I'm wondering if everyone else was right.
AMBER
Please don't say that...
ANTHONY
Then tell me the truth!
ANTHONY THROWS A VASE ACROSS THE ROOM
The vase explodes against the wall. Broken glass scatters across the floor while Amber steps backward in fear.
ANTHONY
That's what you've done to my trust...
You shattered it.
AMBER
I never wanted this...
ANTHONY
Never wanted WHAT?
ANOTHER DEAD SILENCE
Amber realizes she revealed too much. Tears roll down her face. Anthony's anger turns into heartbreak.
ANTHONY
Your silence answered every question I asked.
Anthony grabs his keys, opens the front door, and walks into the pouring rain without looking back. Amber collapses onto the couch, crying uncontrollably as the truth remains hidden.
