PURNELL FIRED ON THE SPOT
INT. COMPANY WAREHOUSE – MORNING
The warehouse is busy with employees working around forklifts and delivery trucks. Larry finishes paperwork while Purnell approaches with an angry look. Workers slowly stop to watch.
PURNELL
Larry, explain something to me. You threw Bethany a huge party instead of divorcing her. You're always complaining about your marriage. Isn't that hypocritical?
LARRY
That's none of your business. Stay out of my personal life.
PURNELL
No, someone needed to say it. You complain one day and celebrate the next. That's being a hypocrite.
Larry's face turns red with anger as the warehouse becomes completely silent.
LARRY
Watch your mouth, Purnell. You're crossing a line.
NEWBURGER OVERHEARS EVERYTHING
The office door suddenly opens. Newburger walks out carrying a clipboard. He hears every word of the argument and slowly walks toward the crowd.
NEWBURGER
What's going on here?
PURNELL
I simply told Larry the truth. He throws Bethany a party instead of ending the marriage he complains about.
NEWBURGER
You think it's acceptable to attack a coworker's personal life while you're on company time?
PURNELL
I'm just being honest.
ENOUGH! YOU'RE FIRED.
NEWBURGER
Effective immediately, you're terminated. Your behavior is completely unacceptable.
PURNELL
You're firing me over this?
NEWBURGER
I'm firing you because you showed disrespect, created conflict, and ignored professional boundaries.
THE TRUCK KEYS
Newburger stretches out his hand while everyone watches in complete silence.
NEWBURGER
Give me your company truck keys. Right now.
Purnell reluctantly removes the keys from his pocket and places them into Newburger's hand. The sound of the keys echoes through the warehouse.
NEWBURGER
Collect your belongings, leave this building, and never come back.
AFTERMATH
Purnell empties his locker into a small box before walking toward the exit. Every employee watches in silence as he leaves the warehouse forever.
LARRY
I can't believe what just happened...
NEWBURGER
Respect comes first in this company. Actions always have consequences.
Larry stares at the closed warehouse doors in complete shock while the employees quietly return to work.
FADE OUT
