Scene 01 Family Living Room — Early Evening
Golden sunlight filters through the curtains. The room feels warm and peaceful. Family photographs decorate the walls. A quiet clock ticks in the background.
ISAIAH sits on the couch, nervously holding a university brochure. He takes a deep breath. His mother folds freshly washed clothes nearby, unaware of the conversation that is about to change everything. Isaiah slowly stands. He gathers his courage.
Isaiah
Mom... Can we talk about something important?
His mother looks up and smiles.
Mom
Of course. You look serious. What is it?
Isaiah hesitates for a moment. Then he speaks honestly.
Isaiah
I've made a decision about college. I want to study in another state. I want to attend the same university as Brooke.
A long silence fills the room. His mother's smile slowly disappears. She stares at him in disbelief.
Mom
Another state? With Brooke?
Isaiah quietly nods.
Isaiah
Yes. We've both dreamed about studying there. It's one of the best universities for my major.
His mother places the clothes on the table. Her expression becomes firm.
Mom
No. Absolutely not.
Isaiah is surprised by her immediate reaction.
Isaiah
Mom... Please hear me out.
She folds her arms.
Mom
I already heard enough. You're not leaving this state.
The atmosphere suddenly becomes tense.
Scene 02 Living Room — Continuous
Isaiah walks closer. He tries to stay calm.
Isaiah
This isn't only about Brooke. The university has excellent professors. It offers better opportunities. I've researched everything.
His mother shakes her head.
Mom
You can receive a great education here. There are wonderful universities nearby. There's no reason to move so far away.
Isaiah sighs.
Isaiah
But this school is perfect for my future. I've wanted this for a long time.
His mother's voice grows louder.
Mom
And I've spent years raising you. Do you think it's easy for me to watch you leave?
Isaiah lowers his eyes. He understands her emotions. But he also knows his dream matters.
Scene 03 Dining Room — Moments Later
The dinner table sits untouched. Neither of them feels hungry anymore. Isaiah places the university brochure in front of his mother.
Isaiah
Please look at it. Just once.
She barely glances at it. Then pushes it away.
Mom
I don't need to. I've already made my decision.
Isaiah's disappointment grows.
Isaiah
Mom... You're deciding without even listening.
His mother stands. Her voice becomes stronger.
Mom
Because I'm your mother. It's my responsibility to protect you. You're staying here. I'll get your admission into a university in this state. That is final.
Isaiah slowly shakes his head. He struggles to hide his frustration.
Scene 04 Kitchen — Continuous
His mother pours herself a glass of water. Her hands tremble slightly. She is angry. But underneath the anger... she is afraid. Isaiah quietly follows her.
Isaiah
You're scared. I understand that. But I can't stay here forever.
She turns toward him. Her eyes begin to fill with emotion.
Mom
You're my son. Every mother worries. What if something happens? What if you're alone? Who will help you?
Isaiah smiles gently.
Isaiah
I'll learn. That's part of growing up.
Scene 05 Living Room — Later
The silence becomes almost unbearable. Isaiah sits across from his mother. Neither speaks for several moments. Finally—
Isaiah
Brooke isn't the reason I'm leaving. She's just someone who's encouraging me. This decision is mine.
His mother looks directly into his eyes.
Mom
People change. Plans change. But family stays. Why risk everything?
Isaiah answers calmly.
Isaiah
Because dreams are worth taking risks for.
His mother looks away.
Flashback Isaiah's Bedroom — Years Earlier
A younger Isaiah studies late into the night. Books cover his desk. University posters hang on the wall. He circles the name of his dream university. His mother quietly watches from the doorway. She smiles proudly.

His mother remembers that moment. Her expression softens for just a second. Then reality returns.
Mom
Dreams are important. But family comes first.
Isaiah slowly stands.

His mother watches him through the window. She remembers his first day of school. His first bicycle. His graduation. Every memory reminds her how quickly time has passed. A tear slowly rolls down her cheek. She wipes it away before Isaiah returns.

Isaiah walks back inside. The atmosphere has become quieter. Less angry. But still emotional. He sits beside his mother. Neither looks at the other immediately. Finally—
