1. The Future Brooke Always Imagined
Brooke had always believed that one day she would marry Isaiah. In the quiet moments when life felt simple, she imagined walking toward him in a beautiful wedding dress, seeing his face waiting for her at the end of the aisle, and knowing that she had finally found the person she would spend the rest of her life with.
Isaiah was her first serious love. To Brooke, he wasn't simply a boyfriend. He represented a future she had carefully built inside her heart. She imagined a home filled with laughter, late-night conversations, ordinary mornings, family celebrations, and the comfort of knowing they would always have each other.
That dream had felt so real that Brooke never seriously considered the possibility that it could disappear.
2. A Silence She Couldn't Understand
Now, inside the New Orleans house, Brooke couldn't sit still. She moved from one side of the room to another, repeatedly checking her phone as though the next notification might suddenly make everything normal again.
Nothing.
No message from Isaiah. No call. No explanation. Just silence.
Tears filled Brooke's eyes as she stared at his name on her phone. Her mind kept creating frightening possibilities. Maybe Isaiah had gone somewhere. Maybe something had happened to him. Maybe he was trapped in a situation he couldn't escape.
But the possibility that frightened her most was one she refused to say aloud: what if Isaiah was never coming back?
3. Baton Rouge Was Waiting
Brooke's college plans suddenly felt meaningless. She was supposed to continue toward Baton Rouge and begin the next chapter of her life. College had once represented freedom, independence, excitement, and the beginning of adulthood.
But how could she simply leave while Isaiah was missing?
She picked up her travel bag and looked toward the door. Her future was waiting outside, but so was the question that haunted her: Should she go to Baton Rouge, or should she stay and search for Isaiah?
Brooke knew that delaying college could change everything. Yet walking away while the person she loved might be in danger felt impossible.
4. The Dream Begins to Break
Brooke slowly sat down, covering her face as tears finally escaped. She had once pictured her wedding day so clearly. The flowers. The dress. The music. Isaiah standing beside her. Their promises to remain together through every difficult moment.
Now those beautiful images felt painfully distant.
Her wedding dream had shattered in what felt like only one minute. Happiness had turned into fear. Hope had turned into uncertainty. And the future she had imagined with Isaiah suddenly looked like something she might never experience.
"Where are you, Isaiah?" she whispered through trembling tears.
5. Love Versus Her Future
Brooke knew she couldn't remain frozen forever. Her college orientation and plans in Baton Rouge were approaching, and every hour she waited made the decision harder.
Part of her told her to keep moving forward. Isaiah would want her to continue building her future. But another part of her heart screamed that she couldn't abandon him without knowing what had happened.
She opened her phone again and stared at his photograph. Her thumb hovered over his name.
She was about to call him one more time when something stopped her.
6. A Decision She Never Expected
Brooke's breathing became uneven. She wiped her tears and stood up. She knew she needed answers, even if the truth destroyed the future she had dreamed about.
She grabbed her bag, held Isaiah's photograph tightly in her hand, and looked toward the door.
For the first time, Brooke wasn't thinking about wedding dresses or college orientation. She was thinking about one thing only: finding Isaiah.
Whatever had happened, she needed to know the truth. Even if that truth broke her heart completely.
7. The Message That Changed Everything
Brooke reached for the door handle.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated.
She froze.
One new message had appeared on her screen.
Brooke stared at the unknown number, her heart pounding faster with every second. She slowly opened it, expecting perhaps a clue about Isaiah—or maybe the answer she had been desperately waiting for.
Her expression changed instantly.
The color drained from her face as she read the message again.
It wasn't from Isaiah.
And whoever had sent it knew exactly where Isaiah was.
To Be Continued…
Brooke had spent the entire night wondering whether Isaiah had disappeared. Now she finally had a clue—but the message raised an even more terrifying question:
If someone knew where Isaiah was… why had they waited until now to contact Brooke?
And what Brooke was about to discover could destroy not only her wedding dream, but everything she believed about the man she planned to spend her life with.
