Isaiah’s Secret: The One Person He Never Suspected
1. The Questions Begin
The room was quiet as Isaiah sat alone, staring at his phone. He had already questioned Mariah, Hope, and Faith, but none of their answers gave him the certainty he wanted.
He wasn't sitting there trying to figure out how to win Brooke back. That wasn't what consumed him anymore. His mind was locked on one question: Who exposed him?
Isaiah replayed every conversation, every text message, and every strange reaction from the people around him. Someone had told Brooke the truth about Mariah. Someone had taken the secret he had carefully protected and placed it directly in Brooke's hands.
And Isaiah needed to know who.
2. Isaiah’s Original Plan
Isaiah leaned back and closed his eyes, remembering the plan he had created months earlier.
He knew Brooke was preparing for college. Instead of ending their relationship honestly, Isaiah convinced himself that distance would solve everything. Brooke would leave for school, their relationship would slowly become harder to maintain, and eventually they would naturally drift apart.
Meanwhile, Isaiah could continue seeing Mariah in Atlanta.
He told himself that this wasn't betrayal. He wasn't trying to destroy Brooke's life. He simply didn't want to be the person who officially ended everything.
Isaiah was afraid of becoming the bad guy.
3. The Future Isaiah Imagined
What Isaiah never admitted out loud was that he had imagined returning to Brooke someday.
In his mind, he could come back after enough time had passed and make it seem like he had been the one left behind. He could tell Brooke that her decision to leave for college had broken his heart and that he had simply been trying to move forward.
He wanted Mariah to remain a secret.
If Brooke never discovered the truth, Isaiah believed she would continue remembering him as the faithful boyfriend who had loved her until circumstances pulled them apart.
But now that illusion was gone.
4. Why Mariah Became Important
Isaiah knew he couldn't pretend that Mariah meant nothing to him.
Their connection had grown from conversations about their struggles, their uncertain futures, and the feeling that neither of them really knew where life was taking them.
With Mariah, Isaiah didn't feel like he had to pretend that everything was under control.
Brooke's life looked different. She had a stronger support system, better financial stability, and family members who constantly pushed her toward a clearer future.
Isaiah often wondered why his own life couldn't feel that organized.
He wasn't sure what he wanted to become, where he wanted to live, or who he wanted to be. Part of him wanted Brooke because she represented stability. Another part wanted Mariah because she understood the uncertainty he was experiencing.
5. Everyone Becomes a Suspect
Isaiah picked up his phone again and opened his messages. He went through conversations with Mariah, Hope, and Faith one more time.
He wasn't simply reading their words anymore. He was studying them.
Every pause seemed suspicious. Every unanswered question felt important. Every change in someone's tone made him wonder whether they knew more than they were admitting.
"Someone close to Brooke told her," Isaiah whispered.
His suspicion began spreading.
Maybe Mariah had confessed. Maybe Hope or Faith had accidentally revealed something. Maybe someone had seen them together in Atlanta. Or perhaps there was another person quietly watching everything from the beginning.
Isaiah suddenly realized that he couldn't trust anyone completely.
6. The Person Isaiah Never Considered
Across town, Cam remained quiet.
He knew exactly what Isaiah was trying to discover. He knew Brooke had learned the truth because of him.
But Cam had no intention of confessing.
He understood that Isaiah was searching in the wrong places. While Isaiah questioned Mariah, Hope, and Faith, Cam stayed far enough away to avoid suspicion.
Cam wasn't interested in receiving credit. He simply believed Brooke deserved to know the truth.
And now he had to wait.
7. The Secret Is Still Safe
Later that night, Isaiah stood by the window, watching the lights outside. His phone buzzed, but he ignored it.
His mind was racing.
He knew someone had betrayed his trust. He knew someone had exposed his secret. And he was determined to find that person.
But Isaiah didn't know that the answer was closer than he could imagine.
Cam was already watching from the shadows, silently waiting to see what Isaiah would do next.
