Destiny Confronts Bethany
BOX 1: DESTINY RETURNS FROM CHICAGO
Destiny had finally returned from Chicago with her mother, Duchess. After everything that had happened during their time away, she hoped that coming back would give her an opportunity to understand the problems that had torn her family apart. However, the moment she settled into Sharra’s house, Destiny found herself thinking about one painful subject: her grandmother’s arrest.
The thought followed her everywhere. She could not understand how her grandmother had become involved in such a serious situation, and she desperately wanted someone to explain what had happened. The more Destiny thought about the circumstances surrounding the arrest, the more convinced she became that Bethany knew something important.
Destiny had no proof that Bethany was responsible, but her suspicions had grown into anger. In her mind, Bethany was no longer simply someone connected to the family. She was someone Destiny believed might be hiding the truth.
As Destiny sat quietly in the house, she replayed every question she wanted to ask. She imagined Bethany denying everything, making excuses, and refusing to give her a straight answer. Destiny decided she would not allow another conversation to end without demanding an explanation.
She wanted answers, and she wanted them immediately.
BOX 2: SHARRA ISSUES A WARNING
Before Destiny left the house, Sharra noticed that something was troubling her. Destiny’s expression was tense, and her movements suggested that she had already made up her mind about what she intended to do. Sharra knew that her daughter was still upset about the family situation, but she had no idea how far Destiny was prepared to take her anger.
“Destiny, where are you going?” Sharra asked, watching her carefully.
“I have something to take care of,” Destiny replied, avoiding further explanation.
Sharra immediately became concerned. She stepped closer and lowered her voice, hoping that a serious warning would prevent another family dispute.
“Listen to me carefully. Do not go over there and start trouble with Bethany. Whatever happened with your grandmother, you need to be careful about accusing people without knowing the whole story.”
Destiny paused, but she did not turn around. Sharra continued, explaining that an angry confrontation could make an already difficult situation much worse. She reminded Destiny that family disagreements could have lasting consequences, especially when accusations were made without clear evidence.
“I am serious, Destiny. Do not bring up your grandmother’s arrest and turn this into another argument,” Sharra warned.
Destiny heard every word. Nevertheless, she felt that Sharra was asking her to remain silent when she needed answers. Without responding, Destiny picked up her belongings and walked toward the door.
Sharra watched her leave with a worried expression. She could tell that her warning had not changed Destiny’s decision.
BOX 3: DESTINY ARRIVES AT BETHANY’S HOUSE
The journey to Bethany’s house gave Destiny plenty of time to imagine how the confrontation would unfold. She rehearsed her questions in her mind, determined not to let the conversation drift away from the subject that mattered most to her.
When Destiny finally arrived, she approached the entrance with a serious expression. She was no longer interested in waiting for someone else to explain the situation. She wanted to hear Bethany’s side directly, even if the conversation became uncomfortable.
Bethany was inside her house when Destiny appeared. She had not expected Destiny to arrive, much less to confront her without any warning. When she opened the door and saw the young woman standing before her, surprise crossed her face.
“Destiny? What are you doing here?” Bethany asked.
Destiny did not waste time with greetings.
“We need to talk about my grandmother. I want to know what you had to do with her arrest.”
Bethany stared at her, struggling to understand why Destiny had suddenly arrived with such a serious accusation. For a moment, she appeared unable to respond. She had expected an ordinary visit, not a confrontation about a matter she believed she had nothing to do with.
“Excuse me? What are you talking about?” Bethany asked, her confusion quickly giving way to defensiveness.
Destiny stepped forward, making it clear that she had no intention of leaving without an answer.
BOX 4: BETHANY DENIES THE ACCUSATIONS
Bethany took a breath and tried to regain control of the conversation. She could see that Destiny was angry, but she could not understand why Destiny had decided to hold her responsible for the grandmother’s arrest.
“Wait a minute. You cannot just come into my house and accuse me of something like that. I had nothing to do with your grandmother’s arrest!”
Destiny watched Bethany closely, searching her expression for any indication that she was hiding something. Instead of calming her, Bethany’s denial only made Destiny more determined to press for details.
“Then explain what happened. Why does everything surrounding my grandmother seem so suspicious? Why should I believe that you know nothing about it?”
Bethany shook her head in disbelief.
“Because I am telling you the truth! You have come here with your mind already made up. You have not even given me a chance to explain anything, and you are treating me like I have already been found guilty.”
“I am asking questions because nobody is giving me answers,” Destiny replied. “You expect me to believe you just because you say you had nothing to do with it?”
Bethany’s expression hardened. She felt that Destiny was ignoring everything she said and replacing facts with suspicion. She tried to explain that an arrest was a serious matter and that Destiny should seek reliable information before deciding who was responsible.
But Destiny was not ready to listen. The conversation had become more than a request for information. It had turned into a personal confrontation between two women who no longer trusted each other.
BOX 5: AN ARGUMENT TURNS PERSONAL
As the conversation continued, the atmosphere inside Bethany’s house grew increasingly uncomfortable. Both women were speaking more forcefully, and neither seemed willing to step back from her position. Destiny wanted Bethany to acknowledge her suspicions, while Bethany wanted Destiny to stop treating those suspicions as established facts.
“You keep denying everything, but you still have not given me an answer that makes sense,” Destiny said.
Bethany looked at her in frustration.
“What answer do you expect me to give you when I did not do what you are accusing me of? You cannot blame me for every terrible thing that happens to your family!”
The statement struck Destiny as another attempt to dismiss her concerns. She began bringing up the questions that had been troubling her since returning from Chicago, demanding to know whether Bethany had spoken to anyone about her grandmother or knew anything about the events leading to the arrest.
Bethany insisted that Destiny was making assumptions and refusing to consider the possibility that she was innocent. Each denial made Destiny more suspicious, while every new accusation made Bethany more defensive.
“Stop acting like I have no reason to ask questions!” Destiny exclaimed.
“And stop acting like you have proof against me!” Bethany shot back.
For a brief moment, the two women fell silent. They stood facing each other, their expressions tense and their frustration obvious. Neither was prepared to apologize, and neither believed that the other was listening.
The disagreement had now become deeply personal. Whatever chance they had of having a calm conversation seemed to be disappearing.
BOX 6: THE CONFRONTATION BECOMES PHYSICAL
Destiny moved closer as she continued demanding answers. Bethany immediately told her to give her some space. Both women were visibly upset, and the tension that had been building throughout the conversation reached a dangerous turning point.
“Do not come any closer to me,” Bethany warned.
“Then stop avoiding my questions!” Destiny replied.
Bethany attempted to end the argument by moving away, but Destiny followed, insisting that the conversation was not finished. Bethany turned back toward her, and the two found themselves standing face-to-face once again.
Their voices rose. Their gestures became sharper, and both struggled to make themselves heard over the other. In the confusion, Destiny pushed forward, and Bethany pushed back in an angry attempt to create distance.
Suddenly, the argument turned into a physical struggle. Both women grabbed at each other’s arms, trying to pull away while angrily pushing against one another. Their movements became disorganized as they struggled to maintain their balance and continued shouting over the original accusation.
“Get off me!” Bethany shouted.
“You need to tell me the truth!” Destiny yelled back.
For several tense moments, neither woman seemed willing to back down. The confrontation had spiraled beyond a verbal disagreement, and the original questions about the grandmother’s arrest were being drowned out by the immediate struggle between them.
The situation was becoming increasingly difficult to control. Whatever Destiny had hoped to accomplish by confronting Bethany, the argument had taken a turn that neither woman could easily undo.
At last, they separated enough to face each other again. Both were visibly shaken and angry. Bethany looked at Destiny with disbelief, while Destiny continued to stare at her, still convinced that the truth had not been revealed.
Neither woman apologized. The room remained tense, and the silence that followed felt even more uncomfortable than their shouting.
BOX 7: THE QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED
Bethany took a step back, refusing to let the confrontation continue. She straightened herself and looked directly at Destiny, her expression now serious rather than merely surprised.
“This is exactly why you should have listened before coming here. You arrived believing that I was guilty, and nothing I said was going to change your mind.”
Destiny remained beside her, breathing heavily after the heated exchange. Although the physical struggle had ended, her anger had not disappeared. She still wanted to know what had happened to her grandmother, and Bethany’s denials had not provided the explanation she was searching for.
“I am not leaving this situation alone,” Destiny said. “My grandmother deserves answers, and I will keep asking questions until I understand what happened.”
Bethany folded her arms, refusing to accept responsibility for an arrest she said she had nothing to do with.
“Ask your questions, Destiny. Find out what really happened. But do not come here again and accuse me without evidence.”
Destiny looked at Bethany for another moment. She had come expecting to uncover a hidden truth, but instead she was leaving with more anger and even more unanswered questions. She could not decide whether Bethany’s reaction was simply the response of someone being unfairly accused or whether there was more to the story than she understood.
Meanwhile, Bethany was left wondering why Destiny had become so convinced that she was involved. She knew that the confrontation would not remain a private matter for long. Destiny might tell Sharra what had happened, and the family could soon find itself divided over the accusations.
Destiny finally turned toward the door. Before leaving, she glanced back at Bethany, making it clear that she had not abandoned her search for answers.
Bethany watched her go, unsettled by the sudden visit and the seriousness of the accusation. She had denied everything, but Destiny was unlikely to accept that denial as the end of the matter.
Outside, Destiny paused to collect her thoughts. Sharra had warned her not to start trouble, and now the confrontation had gone far beyond a difficult conversation. Destiny knew that her mother would be upset when she learned what had happened.
But one question continued to dominate her thoughts: was Bethany truly innocent, or had Destiny overlooked something important?
The answer remained unknown. The grandmother’s arrest was still surrounded by unanswered questions, and the conflict between Destiny and Bethany had created a new problem for the entire family.
One thing was certain: this confrontation was not the end of the story. It was only the beginning of a much bigger family mystery.
