Khz) Larry Catches Joel Giving Sharra Rent Money

Larry Catches Joel Giving Sharra Rent Money
He rushed over with rent money to save her — only to find someone had already beaten him to it.

Sharra's Living Room — Morning

The small apartment feels quiet and heavy. Unpaid bills are scattered across the coffee table. A rent notice sits on top, stamped in bold red letters.

Sharra stares at it with watery eyes, nervously tapping her fingers against the table. She grabs her phone and scrolls through her contacts before stopping at Larry's name. After taking a deep breath, she presses CALL.

SHARRA: Larry... I hate asking for help, but I'm out of options. I need money to pay my rent before the landlord throws me out. Can you please help me?

Larry listens carefully from the other end. His expression immediately changes with concern.

LARRY: How much do you need? Don't panic. I'll figure something out. Give me a little time. I'll bring the money myself.

A small smile appears on Sharra's face.

SHARRA: Thank you, Larry. I really appreciate it. I don't know what I would've done without you.

They end the call. Larry immediately grabs his wallet and starts looking for enough cash.

Sharra's Apartment — Thirty Minutes Later

The apartment is still silent. Sharra keeps checking the clock. Minutes feel like hours. Anxiety slowly returns. She looks at the rent notice again. Her hands begin shaking.

Finally... she opens her contacts once more. This time... she calls Joel. The phone rings. Joel answers almost immediately.

JOEL: Hey, Sharra. Everything okay? You sound stressed.

Sharra hesitates before speaking.

SHARRA: Joel... I'm really embarrassed... but I desperately need some money. My rent is due today. Larry said he'd help... but I'm scared it might be too late. Can you help me?

Joel doesn't hesitate.

JOEL: Of course. Come over. Or better yet... stay where you are. I'll bring the money to your place.

Sharra sighs with relief.

SHARRA: Thank you... you have no idea how much this means to me.

Joel grabs an envelope filled with cash and heads out.

Sharra's Apartment — Afternoon

Joel parks outside the apartment building. He walks toward the entrance carrying the envelope. A few neighbors notice him but continue minding their own business. Joel knocks gently. The door opens. Sharra welcomes him inside.

Sharra's Apartment — Continuous

Joel places the envelope on the table. He slides it toward Sharra.

JOEL: This should cover your rent. Don't worry about paying me back right away. Take care of yourself first.

Sharra's eyes immediately fill with tears.

SHARRA: Joel... thank you. I don't even know how to repay your kindness.

Joel smiles warmly.

JOEL: Friends help each other. That's all this is. No pressure. No expectations. Just get through this difficult moment.

Sharra carefully opens the envelope. She quietly counts the money. Relief washes across her face. For the first time all day... she smiles.

Sharra's Apartment Building — Same Moment

A car slowly pulls into the parking lot. Larry steps out. He tightly holds an envelope of cash in his hand. His face shows determination. He quietly walks toward the apartment entrance.

LARRY(softly)
I'm glad I made it. She won't have to worry anymore.

He climbs the stairs. As he reaches the open doorway... he freezes. Inside... he sees Joel standing only a few feet away from Sharra. Joel has just finished handing her the money. Sharra is thanking him.

Larry's smile disappears instantly. His hand slowly lowers. The envelope suddenly feels much heavier.

Sharra's Apartment — Continuous

Larry remains standing silently at the doorway. Neither of them notices him at first. Joel smiles.

JOEL: Everything will be okay now. You don't have to stress anymore.

Sharra nods gratefully.

SHARRA: Thank you again. You saved me today.

Those words hit Larry like a punch. His eyes remain fixed on the envelope now resting on the table. He looks down at the money still in his own hand. A mixture of disappointment... confusion... and heartbreak fills his face.

He quietly clears his throat. Both Sharra and Joel immediately turn around. Their smiles disappear.

SHARRA: Larry... I... I wasn't expecting you yet.

Larry forces a weak smile.

LARRY: I can see that.

Silence fills the room. Nobody knows what to say. Joel senses the awkwardness.

JOEL: Larry... she called me after you. She needed help immediately. I just didn't want her to lose her home.

Larry slowly nods.

LARRY: I understand. I was coming for the exact same reason.

He raises the envelope in his hand.

LARRY: Looks like... I was just a little late.

Sharra immediately shakes her head.

SHARRA: No. Please don't misunderstand. I trusted you. I was just scared. The deadline was getting closer. I didn't know if anyone would make it in time.

Larry looks at her with disappointment but also understanding.

LARRY: You should've told me you called someone else. I would've understood. Finding out like this... just hurts.

Sharra lowers her eyes. She realizes exactly how this looks. Joel quietly steps between them.

JOEL: Nobody betrayed anyone today. She simply needed help. That's all.

Larry slowly exhales. His anger fades. Only sadness remains. He places his own envelope beside Joel's on the table.

LARRY: Keep this too. You'll probably need groceries... utilities... and everything else after paying rent.

Sharra looks at both envelopes. Tears stream down her face. She never expected such kindness.

SHARRA: I don't deserve friends like you two.

Larry finally smiles. A genuine one.

LARRY: Everyone falls on hard times. What's important... is that nobody faces those moments alone.

Joel nods in agreement. The tension inside the apartment slowly disappears. The three of them stand together in silence. Outside... the afternoon sunlight shines through the window.

The rent crisis may have brought confusion and unexpected emotions... but it also revealed something far more valuable — true friendship isn't measured by who arrives first. It's measured by who shows up when you're needed the most.
