Kendrick's Revelation
A tense hospital-room mystery about an attack, a hidden truth, and a name no one expected to hear.
The Hospital Room
Kendrick lay quietly on a hospital bed, staring toward the ceiling as the steady beeping of the heart monitor filled the room. A large cream-colored bandage was wrapped around his forehead, covering the worst of the injury. Bruises were visible across his face, and the exhaustion in his eyes made it clear that the night had been far more frightening than anyone wanted to admit.
The room smelled faintly of antiseptic. An IV line ran beside the bed, while medical equipment stood silently nearby. Kendrick had survived the immediate danger, but the questions surrounding what had happened were only beginning.
The doctor finished checking his vital signs and carefully examined the bandage. After giving a few quiet instructions to the medical staff, he stepped toward the door and left the room.
The Police Arrive
For a few seconds, the room became strangely quiet. Then the door opened again. Two police officers entered, their expressions serious and professional. They stopped near the foot of the bed before one of them stepped closer to Kendrick.
Libby and Natasha were still in the room. Both women looked worried, but neither seemed to understand the full story behind Kendrick's injuries. They had heard that he had been attacked, yet many details remained unclear.
The first officer pulled out a small notebook and looked directly at Kendrick.
Kendrick did not answer immediately. His eyes moved slowly from the officer to the floor. His silence made the tension in the room even heavier.
Questions Without Answers
Libby glanced at Natasha. Natasha returned the look, her expression filled with confusion. Neither woman knew what Kendrick was thinking.
“Kendrick,” the officer said again, this time in a calmer but firmer voice, “we are not here to judge you. We need the truth so we can determine what happened and protect everyone involved.”
Kendrick swallowed hard. His forehead throbbed beneath the bandage, but the pain was nothing compared with the pressure building inside his chest. He knew the moment had finally arrived.
For days, perhaps longer, he had carried the truth alone. He had convinced himself that keeping quiet would prevent more trouble. He believed that if he protected certain people, the situation might eventually disappear.
But now two police officers were standing beside his hospital bed, asking him directly about the attack. There was no easy way out.
Kendrick Remembers
Kendrick closed his eyes for a moment. Images from the incident returned to him in fragments: the sudden confrontation, the fear, the confusion, and the moment when everything changed.
He opened his eyes and looked toward Libby and Natasha. Their faces were filled with concern. They were waiting for him to speak, completely unaware that his next words could change everything they believed about the situation.
Natasha stepped slightly closer to the bed.
“Kendrick, what happened?” she asked softly.
He looked at her but said nothing. He knew that once he spoke, there would be no way to take the words back.
The Second Question
The second officer finally spoke. His voice was direct and serious.
The question hung in the air.
Kendrick took a slow, deep breath. His fingers tightened against the blanket. He looked at the officers, then at Libby, and finally at Natasha.
He understood that silence was no longer protecting anyone. If the police were going to investigate the attack properly, they needed to know what he knew.
There was one name he had tried desperately to keep out of the conversation. One person whose involvement could turn an already complicated situation into something much more serious.
The Name That Changed Everything
Kendrick finally lowered his eyes. For a moment, nobody moved.
Then he looked directly at the police officer and spoke in a quiet voice.
The words were simple, but their impact was immediate.
Libby's eyes widened. Natasha froze where she stood. Even the officers exchanged a brief look before turning their attention back to Kendrick.
“Don?” one officer repeated, making sure he had heard correctly.
Kendrick nodded slowly.
“Yes,” he said. “Don did it.”
No one knew what to say next. The room, which moments earlier had been filled with questions and uncertainty, suddenly felt completely still. Libby stared at Kendrick as though she were trying to understand whether there was something she had missed all along. Natasha looked equally shocked.
The officers began writing down every detail. They knew Kendrick's statement could become a crucial part of their investigation. But Kendrick knew something else: revealing Don's name was only the beginning.
