Chapter 1: The Silence Before the Storm
The living room had never felt so cold. Bethany stood with her arms crossed, staring at Larry and Sharra. Something was terribly wrong, and she could sense it in every nervous glance they exchanged.
Sharra's eyes were filled with fear. She looked toward Larry, silently begging him to rescue her from the confrontation.
"Larry, please," Sharra whispered. "You know what happened last night. Tell Bethany the truth before everything gets worse."
Larry opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Bethany's phone vibrated. The sound was small, yet somehow it seemed to shake the entire room.
Chapter 2: A Message from an Unknown Number
Bethany glanced at her screen. An anonymous message had arrived, accompanied by a video attachment.
Her fingers began trembling. She read the message twice, hoping she had misunderstood it.
Slowly, she turned the phone toward Larry. His expression changed instantly. The color drained from his face, and he took an involuntary step backward.
"Larry! Tell her it's a lie!" Sharra suddenly cried.
Bethany turned sharply toward her.
"Wait. I haven't even told you what the message says. How could you possibly know?"
Sharra froze. Her silence was more frightening than any explanation.
Chapter 3: The Video Nobody Wanted Bethany to See
Larry reached toward Bethany's phone, but she immediately pulled away.
"Don't touch me, Larry! You have been hiding something, and tonight I'm finding out exactly what it is!"
He insisted that the video was misleading. Sharra begged Bethany not to watch it without hearing their explanation. Their desperation only strengthened her determination.
Bethany pressed play.
The recording began inside a dimly lit room. At first, nothing appeared except a partially open door and the faint outline of furniture. Then Larry entered the frame.
Seconds later, Sharra appeared beside him.
Bethany held her breath as the two moved closer. Sharra wrapped her arms around Larry, and they shared a kiss.
The phone nearly slipped from Bethany's hands.
"Larry... how could you do this to me?"
Chapter 4: Larry's Desperate Explanation
Larry stepped forward, his voice shaking.
"Bethany, please listen. That recording doesn't show everything. Someone deliberately cut out what happened before and afterward."
Bethany shook her head, tears gathering in her eyes.
"I trusted you. I defended you when everyone told me I was making a mistake. And this is how you repay me?"
Sharra began crying.
"Bethany, somebody planned this. We were being watched. I didn't know there was a camera until it was too late!"
But Bethany refused to accept another excuse. She replayed the scene, examining every movement and every shadow.
Then something caught her attention.
Behind Larry, near the doorway, a strange reflection appeared in a mirror.
Chapter 5: The Mysterious Third Person
Bethany paused the video and enlarged the image.
A third person was standing behind the partially open door, holding what appeared to be another phone.
"Who is that?" Bethany demanded.
Larry leaned forward. The moment he recognized the figure, his expression turned from fear to disbelief.
"No... that can't be possible. That person wasn't supposed to be there!"
Sharra grabbed Larry's arm.
"Larry, don't say anything else!"
Bethany stared at them both. Their reactions confirmed that the mysterious figure meant something important.
She checked the recording's timestamp. It showed a time later than Larry had claimed he returned home.
Suddenly, his entire explanation seemed even more suspicious.
Chapter 6: The Unexpected Knock
Before Bethany could demand another answer, the doorbell rang.
Everyone stopped speaking.
The bell rang again, followed by three slow knocks.
Bethany walked toward the front door while Larry repeatedly begged her not to open it.
Ignoring him, she unlocked the door.
A stranger stood outside, wearing a dark jacket and holding a sealed envelope. A disturbing smile crossed the visitor's face.
Bethany looked down at her phone, then back at the stranger.
It was the same person she had just seen hiding behind the door in the recording.
"Who are you?" she whispered.
The stranger raised the envelope.
"Someone who knows why Larry and Sharra were together last night. But you've only watched half the video."
Chapter 7: The Name That Changed Everything
Larry rushed toward the doorway.
"You need to leave. Right now!"
The stranger ignored him and addressed Bethany directly.
"The second half contains a conversation they never wanted you to hear. And there's someone else involved."
Sharra covered her mouth. Larry stood motionless.
Bethany demanded to know who had arranged the recording.
The stranger leaned closer and whispered a name.
Whatever Bethany heard made her stumble backward. She knew that name. More importantly, it belonged to someone she had trusted completely.
Before she could respond, another notification appeared on her phone.
"FULL VIDEO RECEIVED."
Her thumb hovered over the screen. Larry whispered her name, but Bethany no longer looked at him.
She pressed play.
The screen went black, and a familiar voice began speaking.
