The afternoon was unusually quiet. Larry sat on his couch, scrolling through his phone, when someone suddenly knocked loudly on the front door.
He stood up and opened it.
Purnell was standing outside. His face looked tense, and his eyes were filled with worry. He walked inside without even smiling.
LARRY
Purnell? What's going on, man? You look like you've been carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.
PURNELL
Larry, I need to tell you something important. And before you say anything, I want you to hear me out.
LARRY
You're making me nervous already. What's happening?
Purnell took a deep breath and sat down.
PURNELL
I've made a decision. I've decided to marry Jade.
Larry slowly lowered his phone.
LARRY
Wait... What did you just say?
PURNELL
You heard me. I love Jade, Larry. I want to build a future with her. I've already started thinking about investing my money into a house and a business for us.
Larry stared at him in disbelief.
LARRY
Are you out of your mind? You're seriously planning to spend your hard-earned money on that woman?
PURNELL
Watch your mouth! Jade is the woman I love.
LARRY
Purnell, everybody knows about her past. She's an escort! Do you really think marriage is going to magically change everything?
Purnell immediately stood up.
PURNELL
I didn't come here to ask for your permission. I came here because I considered you my friend. But if you can't respect my decision, maybe I was wrong about you.
LARRY
I'm trying to save you from making the biggest mistake of your life!
PURNELL
No, Larry! You're trying to control my life!
The room suddenly became silent. Neither man realized that their disagreement was about to turn into something much more dangerous.
SCENE 2 – WHEN FRIENDSHIP TURNS INTO AN ENEMY
[INT. LARRY'S LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS]
Larry walked toward Purnell, pointing his finger directly at his chest.
LARRY
Listen carefully. I will never support this marriage. You're throwing away everything you've worked for because of a woman you barely know.
PURNELL
You don't know what happens between Jade and me. You don't know how she treats me when nobody else is around.
LARRY
That's exactly the problem! You only see what she wants you to see!
Purnell shook his head.
PURNELL
You're jealous because I've found someone who makes me happy.
LARRY
Jealous? Of what? A woman who has secrets she's never told you?
PURNELL
What secrets?
Larry suddenly stopped talking. For a moment, he looked as though he had almost revealed something he wasn't supposed to.
PURNELL
Larry, answer me! What do you know about Jade?
LARRY
Forget it. You're not ready to hear the truth.
PURNELL
Don't play games with me!
Larry lost his temper and slapped Purnell across the face. Purnell stumbled backward, holding his cheek.
PURNELL
You just made the biggest mistake of your life!
He pushed Larry hard against the living room furniture. Larry immediately charged toward him.
The two men grabbed each other's shirts, knocking a lamp onto the floor. A glass shattered as they struggled across the room.
JADE
STOP! BOTH OF YOU!
Jade stood near the doorway, completely shocked. She had arrived just in time to witness the fight.
JADE
Purnell! Larry! What is wrong with you two?
PURNELL
Ask him! He thinks he has the right to decide who I can marry!
LARRY
I'm trying to protect you from her!
JADE
Protect him? You attacked him because he wants to marry me!
Larry looked directly at Jade.
LARRY
You should be the last person talking about honesty.
Jade froze. Something about Larry's words made her realize that her secret might finally be exposed.
SCENE 3 – JADE MAKES A PHONE CALL
[INT. LARRY'S HOUSE – MOMENTS LATER]
Purnell stepped between Larry and Jade.
PURNELL
Don't you dare speak to her like that again!
LARRY
You really think she loves you? Wake up, Purnell!
Jade quickly pulled out her phone. Her hands were shaking.
JADE
I'm calling the police. This has gone too far.
PURNELL
Jade, wait. Let me handle this.
JADE
No, Purnell. I'm not letting this get any worse.
She dialed emergency services.
JADE
Hello? I need police assistance immediately. There has been a physical fight at this address. Two men are involved, and I need officers here right away.
Larry paced angrily around the living room.
LARRY
Go ahead! Call them! I have nothing to hide!
But his confidence disappeared when Jade mentioned his name and explained what had happened.
Purnell sat down, breathing heavily. He looked at Jade.
PURNELL
I can't believe this happened. All I wanted was to tell Larry about our future.
Jade sat beside him and gently touched his shoulder.
JADE
I know, sweetheart. But sometimes people can't stand seeing someone else happy.
Across the room, Larry heard her words and laughed.
LARRY
Happy? You have absolutely no idea what you're getting yourself into!

SCENE 4 – THE POLICE ARRIVE
[EXT. LARRY'S HOUSE – AFTERNOON]
Several minutes later, police vehicles pulled up outside Larry's house. Two officers entered the property.
OFFICER 1
Everybody, stay where you are! We received a report of a physical altercation. Who was involved?
Jade immediately stepped forward.
JADE
Officer, these two men were fighting. Larry slapped Purnell, and then they started pushing each other.
OFFICER 2
Sir, are you injured?
PURNELL
My face hurts, but I'm okay. I just want to know why this man has such a problem with my relationship.
The officers separated the men and began asking questions.
LARRY
This is ridiculous. He came here to tell me he's marrying a woman who has been lying to him.
OFFICER 1
That's not an excuse for physical violence. We'll need to establish exactly what happened.
LARRY
You don't understand. I'm trying to save his life!
OFFICER 2
Sir, calm down. We need you to cooperate.
The officers continued their investigation. After hearing the statements and assessing the situation, they decided to take Larry into custody over the reported assault.
LARRY
Are you seriously arresting me? This is unbelievable!
OFFICER 1
Turn around, sir. You're being taken in while we investigate this incident.
Larry reluctantly turned around. Purnell watched as the officers placed handcuffs on him.
Jade stood beside Purnell, but she wasn't smiling. Something about Larry's final words had disturbed her.
SCENE 5 – LARRY'S FINAL WARNING
[EXT. LARRY'S HOUSE – CONTINUOUS]
As the officers escorted Larry toward their vehicle, he suddenly turned his head. His eyes locked onto Purnell.
LARRY
Purnell! Listen to me! You're making the biggest mistake of your life!
PURNELL
Save your speech, Larry. You've already said enough.
LARRY
No! You haven't heard anything yet!
The officers continued walking. Larry raised his voice.
LARRY
You think Jade came into your life because she loves you? Ask her what happened three years ago!
Purnell's expression changed.
PURNELL
What happened three years ago?
Larry looked directly at Jade.
LARRY
Tell him, Jade! Tell him why you really came back into his life!
Jade's face suddenly turned pale.
JADE
Larry, shut your mouth!
Purnell slowly turned toward her.
PURNELL
Why are you telling him to be quiet? What is he talking about?
Jade couldn't answer.
LARRY
Now you understand, don't you? There's a reason I never wanted you to marry her.
The police vehicle door closed. Larry was taken away.
But his warning remained in Purnell's mind.
SCENE 6 – THE FIRST CRACK IN THEIR LOVE
[INT. JADE'S CAR – EVENING]
Purnell and Jade sat inside the car. Neither had spoken for several minutes. The silence was becoming unbearable.
Finally, Purnell turned toward her.
PURNELL
Jade, look at me.
She slowly raised her eyes.
PURNELL
What happened three years ago?
JADE
Purnell, please. Not right now. We've both had a terrible day.
PURNELL
No. I want an answer. Larry knows something about you, and whatever it is, it scared you.
Jade swallowed nervously.
JADE
Larry has always hated me. He wants to destroy our relationship. That's all.
PURNELL
Then why did you look like you were about to faint when he mentioned the past?
Jade looked through the windshield.
JADE
Because I was afraid you'd believe him.
PURNELL
Believe what?
Tears began rolling down her cheeks.
JADE
That I wasn't completely honest with you when we first met.
Purnell leaned back in his seat.
PURNELL
What does that mean?
Jade reached for his hand.
JADE
I love you, Purnell. Whatever happens, you have to believe that.
He gently pulled his hand away.
PURNELL
Love isn't enough if there are secrets between us.
Jade closed her eyes. She knew the truth could destroy everything.
SCENE 7 – A MYSTERIOUS MESSAGE
[INT. JADE'S BEDROOM – NIGHT]
Later that night, Jade sat alone on her bed. Her phone vibrated. A message appeared from an unknown number.
"You have until tomorrow morning to tell Purnell everything. Otherwise, I will send him the photographs."
Jade's breathing became faster. She immediately typed a reply.
JADE (TEXT MESSAGE)
Who is this? What photographs are you talking about?
A second message arrived.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Your past is about to catch up with you."
Jade dropped her phone onto the bed.
JADE
No... This can't be happening again.
She walked toward her bedroom window and looked outside. A black SUV was parked across the street. Its headlights were switched off.
Jade stepped closer to the curtains. Suddenly, the vehicle's headlights turned on. She jumped backward.
Her phone vibrated again. This time, there was a photograph attached.
Jade opened it. Her entire body went cold.
The photograph showed her standing beside a man outside a hotel three years earlier. But the man wasn't Larry. It was someone Purnell knew very well. Someone he trusted.
SCENE 8 – PURNELL DISCOVERS SOMETHING
[INT. PURNELL'S HOUSE – SAME NIGHT]
Purnell couldn't sleep. Larry's warning kept replaying in his mind.
He opened his phone and searched through old messages between himself and Jade. Most of their conversations seemed normal.
But then he noticed something strange.
Jade had once mentioned that she had moved away three years earlier because of a family emergency. However, in another conversation, she had said she had never left the city.
PURNELL
Why would she lie about something like that?
He opened his social media account and searched for an old photograph. There was Jade, standing at a birthday party with several familiar faces.
Purnell zoomed in. A man was standing behind her. His smile disappeared.
PURNELL
No... It can't be him.
He immediately called his friend.
UNKNOWN MAN
Hello? What's going on? Why are you calling so late?
PURNELL
I need to ask you something. And I want the truth.
UNKNOWN MAN
Okay. What's wrong?
PURNELL
Do you know Jade?
There was a long silence.
UNKNOWN MAN
Why are you asking me that?
Purnell tightened his grip on the phone.
PURNELL
Because I just found an old picture of her with you. And Larry said something happened three years ago.
The man suddenly became nervous.
UNKNOWN MAN
Purnell, listen to me. Don't get involved in something you don't understand.
PURNELL
What does that mean?
UNKNOWN MAN
Just stay away from Jade for now.
The call suddenly disconnected.
Purnell stared at his phone. Now he had more questions than answers.
SCENE 9 – THE WOMAN WHO KNOWS EVERYTHING
[EXT. POLICE STATION – NEXT MORNING]
The following morning, Jade arrived at the police station. She had barely slept.
She walked toward the reception desk.
JADE
I'm here to speak with Larry.
RECEPTION OFFICER
Are you a family member or his attorney?
JADE
No. But I need to speak with him. It's extremely important.
The receptionist checked the information. After a short wait, Jade was allowed to speak with Larry under supervision.
Larry entered the room and sat across from her.
LARRY
Well, well. Look who's finally decided to show up.
JADE
You need to stop talking about my past.
Larry laughed.
LARRY
My problem isn't your past, Jade. My problem is that you're planning to destroy another man's future.
JADE
You don't know what you're talking about!
LARRY
Then explain the photographs.
Jade's eyes widened.
JADE
How do you know about those?
Larry leaned forward.
LARRY
Because I'm not the only person who knows what happened three years ago.
Jade's hands began trembling.
JADE
Who else knows?
Larry looked toward the observation window.
LARRY
The person who sent those photographs to you.
Jade stood up.
JADE
You're lying!
LARRY
Am I? Ask Purnell who was standing beside you in that photograph.
Jade slowly sat back down. Her voice became almost a whisper.
JADE
You don't understand. If Purnell finds out who that man is, everything will fall apart.
Larry's expression turned serious.
LARRY
Then maybe you should have told him the truth before asking him to marry you.
SCENE 10 – THE SHOCKING ARRIVAL
[EXT. POLICE STATION – LATE MORNING]
Purnell arrived at the police station carrying his phone. He had discovered something that he couldn't ignore.
He walked inside and asked to speak with Jade.
But before he could reach the interview room, a woman approached him. She was wearing a long black coat and sunglasses.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Purnell? I've been looking for you.
He turned around.
PURNELL
Do I know you?
The woman removed her sunglasses.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Not yet. But after today, you'll know exactly who I am.
She handed him a small envelope.
Purnell opened it. Inside were several photographs, an old document, and a handwritten letter.
His hands began shaking as he read the first line.
PURNELL
What is this?
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Proof that Jade hasn't told you the truth.
PURNELL
Who gave you these?
The woman stepped closer.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
The same person who has been protecting Jade for the last three years.
Purnell looked at the final photograph. His face turned completely pale.
The man standing beside Jade was the same man who had answered his phone call the previous night. His own closest friend.
PURNELL
Why would he be involved with Jade?
The woman looked around nervously.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Because this was never just about love, Purnell. There was money involved. A lot of money.
Suddenly, Purnell heard footsteps behind him. Jade was standing at the entrance. Her eyes were fixed on the envelope.
JADE
Purnell... Don't open the letter.
He slowly turned toward her.
PURNELL
Why? What else have you been hiding from me?
Jade began crying.
JADE
Please, let me explain. I can tell you everything.
Purnell held up the photograph.
PURNELL
Then answer one question. Did you know my best friend before you met me?
Jade opened her mouth, but no words came out.
The unknown woman suddenly stepped backward.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
There's something else you should know. The man who was with Jade three years ago isn't the person who planned everything.
Purnell stared at her.
PURNELL
Then who did?
Before she could answer, her phone rang. She looked at the screen and immediately panicked.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Oh my God... He's here.
PURNELL
Who's here?
The woman looked toward the parking lot.
A black SUV had just pulled up outside the police station. The driver's door opened.
A familiar man stepped out.
Purnell recognized him immediately. It was the same man who had warned him to stay away from Jade.
But what happened next was even more shocking.
The man didn't walk toward Purnell. He walked straight toward Jade. And Jade ran toward him.
PURNELL
JADE! STOP!
She turned around, tears streaming down her face.
JADE
Purnell, I'm sorry! But there's something you don't know!
The man opened the SUV's rear door.
Inside the vehicle sat someone Purnell never expected to see again. Someone he believed had disappeared forever.
Purnell took one step forward. His entire world seemed to stop.
PURNELL
No... This is impossible.
The person inside slowly lifted their head and smiled.
UNKNOWN PERSON
Hello, Purnell. Did you really think you could marry Jade without knowing what happened to me?
Jade covered her mouth.
Purnell stared at the vehicle, unable to move. Then the unknown person spoke five chilling words.
UNKNOWN PERSON: "Larry knows everything. Ask him."
